INSTALLATION: -------------
The recommended installation procedure is simply to install from your distro's package manager. However, if the latest Skrooge version is not in your distro's repository. You can install from sources :
I use Skrooge both on my Ubuntu laptop and at office Windows. Unfortunately the KDE version is old, 1.2.0, and files are not compatible with current Ubuntu version 1.3.
How can µI find a solution to my prblem? How to compile for KDE win?
Thanks in advance,
Alain
So, this is really weird. I compiled skrooge from the sources, neither cmake nor make reported any problems. I start skrooge, and it is *empty*. There are no contexts, plugins or anything else. Really, the only option i am given by skrooge is to quit.
So what is wrong here? are the contexts/plugins available separately?
Sorry, didn't notice the comment until today...
The explanation, in case you wonder what happened, is that KDE will only see Skrooge plugins after you ran kbuildsycoca, or after a restart. And since everything in Skrooge is a plugin, it appears empty until then.
I can only suppose one of these two actions was performed between tries #5 and #6 :)

I like this app but I miss too much of the double-entry bookkeeping system: have you any plan to add this feature (maybe as a user preference) ? Would it be such a big issue to develop?
No, there is no such plan. Even more, it was a choice we made from the beginning *not* to use the double entry system, because we want Skrooge to be usable by users with no financial knowledge... :)
If you really miss it, you may want to try KMyMoney (even though the double entry thingy is not really visible to the user, I think), or gnucash.
I know it was a choice, because I read somewhere on your website some months ago: I was just hoping you changed your idea meanwhile... :)
I used Gnucash in the past and I'm currently using Kmymoney; but I'd like to switch to your software because Skrooge is for Kde4 and Kmymoney is not; moreover, I do appreciate some cool feature like "trakers" and the better report in your app.
Do you really think it would be such a problem for the unexperienced financial user if you were to add a non-default setting for the double entry feature? I think that the lack of this system is an issue in kmymoney-skrooge interoperability too: I tried the QIF-bridge workaround, but I got odd results.
Anyway, I'll keep rating up your great application and looking forward for new updates!

Sorry for not coming back earlier... Switching to a double entry system, even hidden to the user, would have a big impact on the underlying datamodel. And honestly, we don't want to break it at that stage...
I don't know if there is a error in Bespin or in Skrooge. But both together looks very confused. It's only Skrooge which doesnt work with Bespin.

This is Bespin (if someone doesnt know it) http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php/Bespin?content=63928
Hmm, the dashboard content itself looks fine, but you're right, there are issues with the tabs and docks. While we have a few specificities in tabs (not sure if this is the cause, though), docks are completely Qt standard. I'll try to install bespin and see what it gives here...
Are we likely to see a Kpart for Koffice for Skrooge? It would be a joy to compare finances with in-mind expenses before scheduling in KOrganizer. Balance sheets and overdraft and all that. =)
Still waiting on Gentoo ebuilds.
We have no plans to create a koffice kpart at the moment. How would you use that ? Can you give some examples ?
As to gentoo ebuilds, a contributor stepped up a few weeks ago with an overlay : http://gpo.zugaina.org/app-office/skrooge
I know next to nothing to gentoo, though, so I'm not sure if this means you'll get an ebuild soon.

With QSQLITE driver skrooge seg faults Sqlite 3.8.0.2 Qt 4.8.5 Kde 4.11.2 skrooge 1.8.0 I have to change QSQLITE to QSQLITE3 and skrooge works.

Congratulations on reaching 1.0.0!! Hope to see an announcement mailing list and multiple distro repos soon.
just wanted to say this is an awesome app! thanks so much!
You're very welcome :) Thanks for the nice words !

erm. sorry. i tried to restart skrooge a couple of times and for some reason, the fifth time was the charm. So, problem resolved.

Many thanks for a very nice program. PPA for Kubuntu makes it nice and easy to keep up to date. Thanks for all your good work, Keep it up! Dave

Ok, thanks for your concern and forgive me for posting three times the same thing (it was a misuse of konqueror refresh).

The issue was indeed on the skrooge side, but Stephane committed a fix : http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/SmwA75xOw4z7rnVD6I2u8w?feat=directlink If you use the svn version of skrooge, you'll get the fix immediately, otherwise you'll have to wait for the next release...

A big thanks for an app well made! It was just what I was looking for...
